Gongsimchae is a social enterprise that specializes in manufacturing and promoting local Jeju food that are created from subtropical vegetables and herbs harvested by married immigrant women in Jeju. These vegetables are grown under the pristine environmental conditions of Jeju Island and a range of food and beverages such as tea, and dried vegetables and herbs are manufactured from the vegetables cultivated. Profits are channeled into empowering those who are vulnerable and helping them to become more self-reliant. Gongsimchae is recognized for its social business model. Its operations extend beyond manufacturing and retail works, and includes content planning and creation such as product design, content development, live commerce, and planning for crowdfunding activities. Its products are slated to enter Jeju Air’s inflight catering menu in 2024. |
