Enjoy a variety of music genres at the Halla Wind Ensemble’s 80th recital

The Halla Wind Ensemble (headed by ensemble leader Jeong Ho Gyu) is a collective comprising the island’s residents. Performing everything from local to international hits, and classical to pop, they have gained much love and support from the locals as an ensemble with a diverse repertoire.

On the 22nd of March at 3pm at the grand theatre of the Jeju Culture and Arts Center, the Halla Wind Ensemble will be performing to the theme of “New Wind That Opens A New Spring” led by their new conductor Kim Jae Yong.

Playing classics like the Thunder and Lightning Polka by Johann Strauss, the ensemble will highlight their diverse tonality with the Poet and Peasant Overture by Franz von Suppe amongst other songs.

Pansori singer Jo Eun Byeol will also be joining to perform traditional songs like Ssugdaemeori (Tangled Hair of Sorrow, Lament of Chunhyang) and Helpless.

The ensemble will also perform pop hits like Somewhere Over The Rainbow from the Wizard of Oz OST and Play That Funky Music amongst other songs.

Open to the general public at 5,000 won each and to students for 1,000 won each, the ensemble hopes to leave a deep impression on the music-loving Jeju residents on a warm spring day.
