Jeju Hallim High School, selected as a specialized high school for ‘Aviation and Space’ partnership

Financial Support Up to 4.5 Billion KRW Over 5 Years… ‘Cultivating Talent in the Aerospace Field’

Jeju Hallim Technical High School has been designated as a partnership-based specialized high school by the Ministry of Education this year.

On the 20th, the Ministry of Education announced the selection of 10 “partnership-based specialized high schools” that will serve as hubs for fostering local talent in comprehensive systems (education-employment-residency).

“Partnership-based specialized high schools” are specialized high schools formed through agreements between local governments, education offices, local enterprises, and specialized high schools. These schools provide customized education tailored to regional and national needs in specific industrial fields and local industries.

The Ministry of Education plans to provide financial support of up to 4.5 billion KRW over five years to the selected schools, along with policy support such as granting autonomy in curriculum management and improving related guidelines and regulations.

A total of 37 consortia from 15 regions participated in this year’s public offering. Through written and face-to-face evaluations by the selection committee composed of industry and regional experts, 10 partnership-based specialized high schools from 9 regions were ultimately selected.

Among them, Jeju Hallim Technical High School (hereinafter referred to as Hallim Technical High School) has been designated as a specialized high school in the aerospace field.

To be selected, Hallim Technical High School submitted plans aimed at increasing the local employment and residency rates of specialized high school students through curriculum reform.

The curriculum reform was achieved by promoting the Jeju-style autonomous school system, the open competition principal system, and amending support ordinances for consortium members.

The Ministry of Education will provide systematic consulting and performance management to ensure that the newly selected partnership-based specialized high schools become leading models for regional development.

To this end, an individual advisory group will be formed for each school before the full-scale operation begins in 2025, further systematizing the cooperation model within each consortium and identifying and supporting the needs of each school.

In addition to Jeju Hallim Technical High School, the 10 schools designated as partnership-based specialized high schools this year include:

  • Yongsan Railroad High School
  • Incheon Semiconductor High School
  • Incheon Jeongseok Aviation Science High School
  • Chungnam Technical High School
  • Gangwon Life Science High School
  • Cheonan Girls’ Commercial High School
  • Jeonbuk Korea Cheese Science High School
  • Pohang Heunghae Technical High School
  • Gyeongnam Maritime Science High School
