Specialized tourism packages, including those for bicycle trails and paths, are receiving positive responses as Singaporean enthusiasts for cycling and the famous Olle trails flock to Jeju Island throughout the year.
Jeju Tourism Organization (CEO, Ko Seung-Cheol) announced that from the 22nd to the 27th, 39 members of a Singaporean cycling club are cycling the 243km-long Fantasy Bicycle Path around Jeju.
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeju Tourism Organization, and Korea Tourism Organization developed travel packages for Jeju through discussions with the Singaporean ‘Shangri-La Cycling Tour (SCT)’ club in 2022. Their year-round visits are expected to continue this year as well.
The Jeju Cycling Tour scheduled for October is already sold out, and another batch of tours is planned for November. The Fantasy Bicycle Path in Jeju is gaining popularity among cyclists for its relatively gentle slopes, flat terrain, and beautiful scenery.
Additionally, Jeju Island and the Jeju Tourism Organization added that 29 Singaporean tourists will visit Jeju through a tourism product developed jointly with the Singaporean outdoor activity specialist travel agency, ‘Travel Wander’, featuring the famous Olle trails of Jeju.
Behind the increasing number of Singaporean tourists visiting Jeju lies the overseas marketing efforts of Jeju Island and the Jeju Tourism Organization, as well as the significant impact of international direct flight routes. Currently, Scoot Airlines of Singapore has been operating five round-trip flights per week to Jeju since 2022.
In relation to this, a representative from the Jeju Tourism Organization stated, “We will collaborate with overseas local tourism industries as well as domestic tourism businesses to develop additional specialized tourism products such as fishing, mountain climbing, and golf, so that foreign tourists can stay longer and enjoy Jeju not only from Singapore but also from other countries.”
